US Aviation Industry Looks for Government Assistance

(Reuters) – The U.S. aviation and aerospace industries are considering asking Congress for a slice of the $50 billion in infrastructure assistance proposed by President Barack Obama, a top trade group official said on Wednesday.

Marion Blakey, president of the Aerospace Industries Association, told the Reuters Aerospace and Defense Summit that her organization has had discussions with other industry groups about the prospect of financing for new cockpit navigation equipment required for air traffic modernization. Aviation sector adding jobs in Georgia

Middle Georgia’s economy got another boost Thursday with the expansion of operations for an aircraft maintenance company that will soon mean 130 new jobs in Macon.

TIMCO Aviation Services will now take-on maintenance for the widebody Boeing 767, a plane used in some of the largest commercial fleets in the world. TIMCO already does maintenance for some smaller narrowbody planes in its facility at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport. Read the rest of this entry
