1,000 layoffs inside a single weeks time. Friday afternoon, Hawker Beechcraft announced that it might cut 350 staff members. Earlier this week, Cessna announced plans to cut seven hundred.
But these types of cuts impact much more than the aviation workers – it impacts the workers across the street also.

This worldwide recession and fiscal turmoil has directed a shudder throughout the aviation marketplace as predicted job cuts loom and possible additional commercial airline bankruptcy filings are considered. These are not necessarily good days for several carriers as high legacy costs, expensive aircraft fuel, and unproductive management procedures have worked together to bring down some of the larger names out there.
